Media release: AASB, AUASB introduce new websites with enhanced functionality

The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) and the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB) are launching new websites, featuring new branding, simplified navigation and an electronic solution enabling users to locate and tailor the standards relevant to their particular financial reporting period.

The first thing you’ll notice is the change in the appearance of the website, with more contemporary branding, images and enhanced features, such as the ability to instant-reply to open-for-comment documents. Additionally, the ‘family’ of documents associated with each standard will now be easier to find in one place on the new site; rather than having to search multiple pages.

Professor David Boymal, Chairman of the AASB, said the AASB is making the list of Australian accounting standards more convenient and interactive via electronic delivery.

“We have developed a web-based solution to locate and tailor the accounting standards relevant to the particular financial reporting period of the user,” Professor Boymal said.

According to Merran Kelsall, AUASB Chairman, the new search function represents a major transformation in the way standard information is obtained and presented to the website user.

“Users will not have to search a number of lists on different pages of the website; now the relevant information will all be presented in easy-to-digest, ‘Google-like’ search results,” Ms Kelsall said.

The web-based compilations solution will be introduced in the third quarter of 2008.
